So many times we get upset by what others do. Your boss says something that really ticks you off. Your spouse continues to leave dishes all over the kitchen. On the way home you get cut off by another driver on the highway. Then afterwards you can’t seem to be able to let it go.
When things like this happen to you, it can be difficult to realize but important to learn that you can’t control what other people choose to say, choose to do, choose to think, or choose to feel. If you attempt to control any of these, you will likely end up feeling frustrated, angry or depressed. The important thing to remember is that there are things that you do have control over:
- what you think
- what you feel
- what you say
- what you do
- how you respond to what others say and do, and respond to what happens in life
If you feel that other people are negatively impacting your life and you would like to make a change, I can help. We can develop strategies, make changes and learn to gain back control and not allow others to affect you so much.
